On the Big Screen

If you watched the Oscar's last night, you will know that the movie set in the 1960s during the civil rights movement, The Help,  was a nominee for Best Picture, and also brought Octavia Spencer an award for "Actress in a Supporting Roll."

This faded-green 1948 GMC pick-up makes an appearance on the silverscreen during the movie. Let's take a look back at some other appearances of GMC on the Big Screen.

Motorhomes produced in 1970 made an appearance on the 1996 Blockbuster hit Twister

In 1989's Lethal Weapon 2, Mel Gibson rips a house from its foundation driving a one-ton GMC pickup, and in 1993's Free Willy a pickup tows a killer whale to its freedom.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tom Arnold are seen driving around in a 1993 GMC Jimmy in the action movie True Lies.

Clint Eastwood, playing Robert Kincaide in The Bridges of Madison County, drives a 1960 GMC pickup as his work truck.

The GMC Yukon and Yukon XL (formerly Suburban), are frequent choice vehicles of Hollywood law enforcement agents, making appearances in 1994's Speed and in 1998's The Negotiator.

Stars Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal drive a number of GMC's from 1950 and 1955 in Brokeback Mountain.

A GMC Topkick played the roll of Ironhide in the action blockbuster Transformers.
